About Fabric

Fabric is an open-source framework for augmenting humans with AI: a crowdsourced library of prompts called patterns (summarise an article, extract the key ideas from a talk, write an essay, improve your writing) that you run from the command line on any text. It supports many backends, including Claude Code, which uses your Claude subscription through the local claude CLI, and OpenAI Codex, which uses your ChatGPT or Codex subscription.

Can you use your ChatGPT plan in Fabric?

Yes. Your ChatGPT or Codex subscription, via Codex sign-in. Fabric's own page says: "OpenAI Codex (ChatGPT/Codex subscription OAuth via private backend)"

How to connect your plan

ChatGPT Plus or Pro

  1. Pick the Claude Code or OpenAI Codex backend in fabric --setup.
