Codewhale
An open-source terminal coding agent that can run on your ChatGPT plan through the official Sign in with ChatGPT.

About Codewhale
Codewhale is an open-source coding agent for the terminal. It reads your project, edits files, runs commands and checks its own work, with a hosted or local model you choose from a long list of providers. For OpenAI models it supports the official Sign in with ChatGPT: run codewhale auth chatgpt, approve plan use, and eligible requests consume your ChatGPT plan or credits instead of API billing. Codewhale keeps its own sign-in, separate from the ChatGPT apps and the Codex CLI.
Can you use your ChatGPT plan in Codewhale?
Yes. Your ChatGPT plan, through Codewhale's own Sign in with ChatGPT (codewhale auth chatgpt). Plus's five-hour allowance is shared with your other apps. Codewhale's own page says: "Permission to use your ChatGPT plan is separate from identity sign-in."
How to connect your plan
ChatGPT Plus or Pro
- Run codewhale auth chatgpt, sign in and allow plan use; then pick the openai-codex provider.
